We take an average of 21,000 breaths every single day of our lives. Oftentimes we don’t even think about it until we lose the freedom in our breathing (such as when we are congested). The breath is the backdrop of our life and is a powerful tool that, when utilized properly, can promote a state of deep healing and optimum health.
Join Sho in this special workshop where we will explore some of the ancient yogic healing techniques to restore our mind-body health to its optimum state. Our breath not only brings in oxygen, but it also brings prana, the all pervading life force energy that sustains all life form. By bringing awareness to our breath and this prana flow, we are able to tap into our body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Feel safe and secure within your own body by balancing the Muladhara Chakra, or root center, the first of the major chakras. This is the energy center that governs the way we function on the physical plane. Muladhara is the foundation of our development much like the roots of a tree, and provides us with groundedness, the feeling of being well established–physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even economically. When it is under active, or Tamasic, we feel a sense of disconnection, instability, lack of focus, unhealthy, or even unsuccessful. When it is overactive, or Rajasic, we feel stuck, lethargic, apathetic, and unable to make changes or move forward in our lives. A balanced and harmonious Muladhara chakra helps us to feel safe, connected, and allows us to move through life smoothly with comfort and ease.
Learn how we can use the yogi’s ancient techniques to alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress; sleep better at night; improve digestion, and relieve digestive distress; boost and restore the immune system, lymphatic system, and circulatory system; alleviate pelvic floor issues; improve memory, focus and concentration; and of course, breathe more freely and easefully! We will even explore some of the ancient yogi’s secret anti-aging techniques.
Class will begin with simple breath awareness and breathing techniques to relax and soothe the mind and nervous system (these techniques can be done anywhere, anytime you need). We will then prepare the physical body through gentle, mindful stretching, explore the ancient breath and pranayama techniques, and end with a healing prana shakti yoga nidra meditation designed to fuel our cells with the necessary prana to restore, rebuild and rejuvenate.
