We take an average of 21,000 breaths every single day of our lives. Oftentimes we don’t even think about it until we lose the freedom in our breathing (such as when we are congested). The breath is the backdrop of our life and is a powerful tool that, when utilized properly, can promote a state of deep healing and optimum health.
Join Sho in this special workshop where we will explore some of the ancient yogic healing techniques to restore our mind-body health to its optimum state. Our breath not only brings in oxygen, but it also brings prana, the all pervading life force energy that sustains all life form. By bringing awareness to our breath and this prana flow, we are able to tap into our body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Find freedom and joy in your life by balancing the Svadhistana Chakra, our second major energy center in the body. Svadhistana allows us the permission to feel – to let in our emotions, sensations, and pleasures without judgment or attachment. Simultaneously, it allows us to let go–release any tensions or memories tied to these thoughts. When Svadhistana is under active, or Tamasic, we can feel lifeless, out of touch with ourselves, or guilty of our feelings and sensations. When over active, or Rajasic, we are often ruled by these emotions and addicted to pleasure or stimulation. Second chakra also grants us the permission to let go, to forgive and release resentment, so that we can truly be free. A harmonious Svadhistana chakra gives us balance between work and play, allows us the ability to enjoy healthy sensuality and pleasures, and helps to discover the freedom and joy within.
Learn how we can use the yogi’s ancient techniques to alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress; sleep better at night; improve digestion, and relieve digestive distress; boost and restore the immune system, lymphatic system, and circulatory system; alleviate pelvic floor issues; improve memory, focus and concentration; and of course, breathe more freely and easefully! We will even explore some of the ancient yogi’s secret anti-aging techniques!
Class will begin with simple breath awareness and breathing techniques to relax and soothe the mind and nervous system (these techniques can be done anywhere, anytime you need). We will then prepare the physical body through gentle, mindful stretching, explore the ancient breath and pranayama techniques, and end with a healing prana shakti yoga nidra meditation designed to fuel our cells with the necessary prana to restore, rebuild and rejuvenate.
