Carey’s journey towards yoga did not start on a mat but with meditation classes offered at The Tibet Center. There, she was first introduced to simple yet effective breathing techniques for bringing peace to the mind and soul. It was another two years before life brought her to Michelle Dortignac’s Unnata® Aerial Yoga classes. At the time, her body was hardened from years of disuse—her back so tense that she was experiencing headaches daily. The integration of meditation with the restorative properties of the aerial silks offered her immediate and lasting relief.
Over the next five years, yoga became the center stone of Carey’s life, healing her body and soul and guiding her through a series of difficult life events with a newfound sense of grace. By 2014, she felt compelled to pass on the lessons in healing to others in need. Carey completed her 200-Hour Vinyasa and Unnata® Aerial Yoga teacher trainings at Sacred Sounds Yoga in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
Carey is also a wedding photographer and artist based in Brooklyn, NY.
