Liz is the Owner and Director of Teacher Training of Yoga Effects’ 200-hour training program. She began yoga 13 years ago while a practicing attorney after observing in a colleague the practices’ enormous benefits. She began her practice in the Hatha tradition and gradually segued into Ashtanga and then finally Vinyasa in 2003.
Liz has been teaching yoga since 2004 after receiving her certification from Atmananda, and has certified over a hundred teachers who now teach across the country and internationally. She started Yoga Effects in 2005, and, for five years, operated its midtown-based studio and staff before shifting totally to teaching group classes and teacher training programs. She enjoys exploring with her students the anatomical possibilities (e.g., ranges of motion and proportions) as to why certain asanas are more available or unavailable for different people–an approach inspired by anatomical compassion and understanding. On a sequencing level, Liz enjoys teaching safe (but vigorous!) sequencing methods for students to build to more advanced postures. She is also currently continuing her yoga studies, focusing on yoga philosophy, the Yoga Sutras, Vedic chanting, meditation, and the TKV Desikachar lineage with Guta Hedewig.
